わたしの目と心の間に同盟が結ばれ
今はお互いに相手を助け合っている
目が一目みたいと渇望するとき
或いは、恋する心が溜め息で胸塞ぐとき

目は、わたしが愛する人の肖像画で祝宴を開き
絵に描いた饗宴にわたしの心を招待する
また、別の機会には、目が心の客となり
愛の思いを心と分かち合う。

きみの肖像画や、わたしの愛によって
きみ自身が離れていても、きみはいつもわたしと共にいる
きみはわたしの「思い」の届かぬ処へ行くことができない
わたしは常に「思い」と共にあり、「思い」はきみと共にいるのだから。

　　たとえ「思い」が眠っても、目の中のきみの肖像画が
　　わたしの心を目覚めさせ、心と眼を喜ばせてくれる。

With my love’s picture then my eye doth feast,
And to the painted banquet bids my heart;
Another time mine eye is my heart’s guest,

So either by thy picture or my love,
Thyself away, art present still with me:

　Or if they sleep, thy picture in my sight
　Awakes my heart to heart’s and eye’s delight.
