美しい浪費家よ、きみはなぜ
きみの美貌の遺産を自分で食い潰すのか？
自然の女神は遺産を与えるのではない、貸し付けるだけだ
彼女は心が広いので、気前のいい人たちに貸し付けるのだ。

美しいしみったれやさん、きみはなぜ無駄遣いする
与えるために与えられた豊かな贈り物を？
儲けることを知らない高利貸しさん、きみはなぜ
莫大な財産がありながら、暮らしていけないのか？

きみ自身とだけ取引するのであれば
きみは美しい自分をだますことになる
自然がきみを呼び戻す時が来たとき、どうやって
受け入れられる決算書を残すことができるのか？

　　利用されなかった美しさは君とともに墓に埋もれるしかないが
　　利用されておれば、それが遺言執行人として生きることになる。

Unthrifty loveliness, why dost thou spend
