成長するものの花の盛りはすべて
ほんのわずかな間でしかなく
この巨大な舞台が見せるのは所詮芝居に過ぎず
星がその芝居にひそかな影響を与える批評を下す。

人間も植物が成長するように
同じ一つの天に励まされもすれば抑えられもし
若々しい樹液を誇ったかと思えば絶頂から衰え始め
華やかな状態も忘れ去られてしまうことに気づくとき

この移ろいやすい世界を思えば
若さの盛りにある君を目の前にしても
破壊をもたらす「時」が衰退と相争って
君の青春の盛りの昼を醜い夜に変えるのが見える。

　　君を愛しているので力をつくして「時」と戦い
　　「時」が君から若さを奪おうとも新たな命を接ぎ木する。

When I consider everything that grows
Holds in perfection but a little moment;
That this huge stage presenteth naught but shows
Whereon the stars in secret influence comment;
When I perceive that men as plants increase,
Cheered and checked even by the self-same sky,
Vaunt in their youthful sap, at height decrease,
And wear their brave state out of memory:
Then the conceit of this inconstant stay
Sets you, most rich in youth, before my sight,
Where wasteful time debateth with decay
To change your day of youth to sullied night:
　And all in war with time for love of you
